Put Big Light On - Bolton 2024

For our second year helping curate Put Big Light On festival in collaboration with Bolton Council, we were thrilled to commission NOVAK to create a brand new projection for Bolton’s beautiful town hall in Victoria Square. The projection was based on Bolton’s rich history - growing from a small market village to the centre of the Industrial Revolution. The town hall was turned into an aquarium and Egyptian tomb - in reference to the collection of Bolton Museum and the piece ended with a celebration of modern Bolton now with its eclectic tapestry of architecture and cultures.

We were also pleased to premiere our own artwork Rock Neon - a neon presentation of an old skool rock band - perfect for family selfies!

Sound Intervention presented his Illuminosi Tree, complete with melodic soundscape, and Alexis installed his incredible Dancing Fountain in a hidden courtyard. Visitors could follow Studio Vertigo’s Yarn from the station to Victoria Square and the Museum was filled with another of Luke Jerram’s infamous artworks - this time, Gaia.

The Lips entertained through rain and wind - bringing their inescapable joy to Victoria Square and the streets were filled with other illuminated surprises - such as the Living Lamposts and the Show Globes.
